Implementation Research in One Health

Mahidol University, Thailand Online Cours  “Implementation Research in One Health”

Implementation research, is crucial to meeting that challenge, providing a basis for the context-specific, evidence-informed decision-making needed to make what is possible in theory a reality in practice (WHO, 2013). This online course aims to support the development and demand for implementation research that is problem-solving focused, action-oriented and aligned with health system needs.

At the end of this course participants will be able to:

- Design research proposal for more effective public health interventions

- Design more comprehensive evaluations of interventions

- Identify possible grants or resources and develop better grant proposals

What is special about this course?       

 The course will introduce you to general principles of implementation research in health through the use of an online learning environment developed by the ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD), Mahidol University, Thailand.

Requirements and prerequisites                     

Information technology:

Participants will need to have access to a reliable Internet connection and a modern browser (Safari 5+, Firefox, or Chrome).

A headset with a microphone is necessary to participate in the weekly group discussion and access the course website on a daily basis.

Cost: Application, enrollment, and participation in this course are free of charge.

Certification: Participants who successfully fulfil all requirements of the course will qualify for certification.

Workload 

  • Participants should be expected to dedicate 6-9 hours a week to the course for four consecutive weeks.
  • Each participant will identify their own funder and develop their own project proposal.
  •  We encourage you to complete each task on the day it is posted. Nevertheless, you are free to catch up any time during the week, preferably before the Thursday discussion group. As each week builds on the preceding week’s activities, it is important that you do not fall behind the schedule.

Workshop in “Writing Academic Paper for International Publication”

Content:

What is it?  A three part workshop based on practical activities aimed to provide structure, advice and motivation through writing a paper for publication.  Each workshop is full day, with at least four weeks between meetings.  Participants will be expected to work on their own papers between the workshops.  The series will include peer-to-peer review and advice from other group members as well as an experienced and successful professors.  The workshop series takes an intensive but intellectually supportive approach by experienced faculty staff.
