AIHD-MU hands Face Shields for Covid-19 front-liners

As Thailand currently facing the unprecedented global health crisis – the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University (AIHD-MU) took the initiative to provide much-needed support to the front-liners of the fight against Covid-19.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, AIHD-MU Director, called on the AIHD executives and staff to join hands to produce 650 face shields to be given to medical personnel in different hospitals dealing with Covid-19 patients. Dr. Phudit sees that the front-liners, particularly the medical personnel, really need all kinds of protection from getting infected with Covid-19, as they face Covid-19 patients every day.

On April 16, 2020, the AIHD team to support the Covid-19 front-liners led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somboon Sirisunhirun, Deputy Director for Administration of AIHD, handed over 200 pieces of face shields to the Golden Jubilee Medical Center, Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital. Napon Sinthuvanich, MD., Deputy Director of the Golden Jubilee Medical Center receives the Face Shields.

The AIHD team to support the Covid-19 front-liners then proceeded to Nakhon Pathom Hospital and handed out 250 pieces of face shields to Rujira Khemphet, MD., and Damras Limthongnoppakun, MD., the hospital’s Deputy Medical Director and Assistant Director for Special Activities and Corporate Communications respectively.

The AIHD team’s last stop was Phutthamonthon Hospital. Mr. Ittipol Thianthavorn, the head of Dental Department of Phutthamonthon Hospital, received 200 pieces of face shields for the hospital’s medical personnel from the AIHD team.

The AIHD-MU’s effort to provide face shields to Covid-19 front-liners is in honor and celebration of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s 65th Birthday.
